1. Taj Lake Palace
The floating white marble palace on Lake Pichola remains the most iconic wedding venue in India. 3. Leela Palace Udaipur
The Leela sits on the far side of Lake Pichola and offers one of the best sunset ceremony lawns in the country. It is more flexible on décor than Udaivilas and comfortably hosts 400–600 guests. 4. Jagmandir Island Palace
Owned by the HRH Group, Jagmandir sits on its own island in Lake Pichola and is used almost exclusively for events. It cannot house guests overnight, so it works best as the setting for one flagship function — usually the sangeet or the wedding reception — while accommodation sits at a partner Tier 1 property.
Ideal for: flagship sangeets, receptions, and cocktails. Capacity: up to 700 for a seated dinner. Indicative event hire: ₹35 lakh – ₹90 lakh per function.
5. Fateh Prakash Palace and Shiv Niwas Palace
Both HRH properties inside the City Palace complex, these venues unlock ceremony spaces the average tourist never sees — the Durbar Hall, the Zenana Mahal courtyards, and the ghats of Lake Pichola. Rate cards are more accessible than Taj or Oberoi, and heritage character is unmatched.

6. Raas Devigarh
Forty-five minutes into the Aravallis, Raas Devigarh is an 18th-century fort turned design hotel. Capacity is limited (39 keys), so most weddings here run under 200 guests.

7. Chunda Palace

Season, Weather, and Booking Windows
Udaipur has two wedding seasons that matter:
- October to March — the peak window. Weather sits between 8°C and 26°C, palaces run at 100% occupancy, and Tier 1 properties charge peak rates. Book 12–18 months out.
- April to June — the shoulder window. Rates drop 25–40%, but afternoon temperatures cross 40°C, so functions must be indoor or after sunset. Increasingly popular for smaller weddings.
Monsoon (July–September) is not recommended. Boat movement on Lake Pichola is unpredictable, décor rigging is complicated by wind, and even the palaces cannot guarantee outdoor events.
How to Choose Between These Venues

- Guest count. Under 200 opens up Taj Lake Palace and Raas Devigarh. Over 400 rules them out.
- Buyout tolerance. Tier 1 palaces require full buyouts; if your celebration doesn't need every room, a Tier 2 property gives better value.
- Design freedom. If your décor team wants to build 30-foot floral canopies and drape entire courtyards, Udaivilas and Taj will resist. Chunda and Fateh Garh will collaborate.
- Function flow. A wedding that needs five distinct backdrops within a single property works at Udaivilas or Leela. A wedding built around one flagship setting works at Jagmandir or Taj Lake Palace.
Working with a Planner in Udaipur
A Delhi- or Mumbai-based planner with a track record in Udaipur is worth their fee for one reason above all: they have already tested every vendor in the city. The florists who can install on lake barges, the sound engineers who own the right generators for Jagmandir, the transport partners who can move 350 guests without a bottleneck at the ghats — none of these can be discovered on a first visit.
